The box of cookies and cards was a surprise

A BIG thank you from the Office of Security Cooperation-Iraq, Army Aviation section here in Baghdad, Iraq for the Valentine's Day cookies and cards! The box of cookies and cards was a surprise and we were all grateful to OWH for coordinating the treats along with the Valentine's Day cards. Please tell all who volunteered to make this shipment special that we truly appreciate their efforts. The extra mile they went for us to make this happen is very much appreciated.

Keep in touch personally

I’m currently serving in Afghanistan. I wanted to e-mail you and thank you so very much for the beautiful cards your service provides for me to keep in touch personally with my family. Along with the free mail service here I’m able to send my son a letter every day. Although I have e-mail, I think a personal card means so much more. Again, thank you.

With Respect,

A big hit in the office

Thank you so much for the cards, they were a big hit in the office. I am going to be leaving here in April however there will be people running this shop down here if you want to continue to send cards.

Again thank you for sending them. The Christmas ones went really fast, and the valentines were just as big of a hit.

I am sure you guys want to hear good news about what's going on down here. Things are going really good for the most part. There is a constant change in personnel for the Air Force. We only get sent for 6 months for the most part so that really helps. I know as a 20 year old here, I have learned a lot by just coming here.

Thank you for all the support that you guys provide. It really does help us!

From all of us, thanks!
Airman T.E.

Labor of love and prayers

My thoughts travel to all of you! I want to thank you for the continual encouragement that you continue to be to so many people! We appreciate your organization because without you, the beauty of communication would be greatly affected.
Thank you for your continued l. God is so hearing all your petitions from across the waters.
Love to all of you!

A smile on my face

I wanted to thank you for your amazing cards! They put a smile on my face, and the best part, I know my loved ones smile when they receive them. This is such a wonderful program. You're truly appreciated and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Kris, Thank you so much for all the beautiful cards. This reminds me of all the nice/wonderful people back in the states. Thanks to you I have been able to write so many cards to loved ones. I have also shared many with my troops! That's great about the weather. It has been a mild one here. High 70's; however you can see your breath some nights. True, I am leaving some times in April. However I am going to distribute your cards to our community center. Again I am so amazed at your kindness. We need more people like you in the world, taking time oiut to help us write home. Well I'm just in awe of the compassion shown. Thanks for everything!

Take Care,
J.F in Afghanistan

PS...You make me love our country!!!

***I met this guys wife at the PO one day when shipping OWH boxes. She and I had a conversation in line ending with me giving her my card. She emailed me his address and I have been sending to him since then!!

Valentine's Day Bags

I am currently headed back to the states! My deployment will soon be over. Thank you very much for your talent in making and organizing cards and your passion for our deployed troops. We have had so many people thrilled to receive them to send home. It has made a huge difference in the morale of our personnel stationed here.

SSgt T.A. put together "Valentine's Day Bags" from some of the Valentine cards you sent and gave them to our Security Forces Troops. She put a card, candy, and a phone card in the bag and encouraged them to send the card to their loved ones. It was a huge hit and they were asking for more.

If you have more cards to send this way, SSgt A. would make a great POC for you. She is at the same address and she will be here for a few more months and is very energetic on getting cards out to folks. Again, words cannot express the appreciation I have for "Operation Write Home." I have already told my wife we are going to be supporters of the program when I get back home through monetary support. Thank you and God bless you and God bless the USA!

I love the hero mail also

I received your first box of cards today, we absolutely love them!!!! I have already written and addressed about a dozen different cards to friends and family. I love the hero mail also, the drawings and colorings from the kids are my favorite.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful program, it is hard to find greeting cards and even simple paper and envelopes but with such caring people hand making cards for us to send back out it such a wondrful heart felt thing to be able to do.

Thank you again...

Shout out to Archway and a big thanks

Lovely note in the "real" mail from K.B. in Afghanistan today:

"We received a box of cookies from Archway, they were delicious and we also received the Valentines. We put them in the chapel mart so those of us who work in the hospital can have access to them. Needless to say, they were gone quick...Hope all is going well and thank you for everything! Love, K"

Caring people like yourself

Dear Sandy,

I am Specialist S. P. and I am stationed at Kandahar Airfield which is just outside of Kandahar City, Afghanistan. I have been in the Army 6 years now I am a Chaplain’s Assistant and currently I work with the only Jewish Rabbi in Afghanistan. I also help out at the Chapel Ministry Center (CMC) on days that I am not traveling to different smaller bases providing religious support. I am 5 months into my deployment with just 7 more to go before I get back home to my lovely wife!

The service members and I greatly appreciate your support and generosity to us who are serving in Afghanistan. I take the cards I receive from you and I make sure the items get to the Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines. I take great pride in my job to support service members by also providing and maintaining a place to have religious meetings such as bible studies or prayer groups, having movie nights, and distributing snacks and personal hygiene products sent to us by caring people like yourself! I cannot thank you enough for your support, care, and prayers! Please thank -all of the volunteers for their kind gestures and hard work in putting together all of these sincere cards and boxes of goodies.

God Bless You!!!
Specialist S. P.
