Coming Home Early

Dixie,

Thank you so much, everyone here loves the cards, especially me! I have to admit that I look through them first to get the best ones for my friends and family. I want to let you know that my re-deployment date has changed so I will be leaving before the year is over...Maybe one more box after this one. Thank you again Ma'am!

Thanks for making the war effort just a little bit easier

Dear Operationwritehome,

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for your organization. From a guy who doesn’t take the time to write much… I found your cards at Kandahar AB, Afghanistan and took the time to write because your cards were so nice. I have had great response from home because of your efforts! Thanks for making the war effort just a little bit easier for me and my family.

Sincerely,
Lt Col S.H.

I love each one of them

Hi everyone,

I'm a current member of the Texas Army National Guard and wanted to thank you for your charity. I just sent today 6 cards to my family. All those cards were from your organization. How thoughtful of you to take your own time to make us such  beautiful cards...I love each one of them.

Thank you and I greatly appreciate it.

Hero Mail...Nice Touch

Dixie,

Wow, I didnt expect such an awesome package. The hero cards were a
really nice touch. We handed them out in our passenger terminal to the
Army soldiers who are heading downrange to more austere bases. I look
forward to passing them out to everyone. I hope you are having a great
Sunday.

A Much Needed Boost

I just received another box of cards from you and your organization! Thank you so much for the cards. My guys love them. It is nice to be able to send a nice card home to our friends and family. They provide a much needed boost not only to the Soldiers who are able to send them, but to the family members and friends who receive them. We have the boxes available for all our Soldiers to use and they love them. The variety and holiday specific cards have been great. Many Soldiers have commented on how pleased their wives are to get a thoughtful card out of the blue. We are set to leave here at the end of August so the cards we just receive will last us until we are gone. I will pass any remaining cards to our follow-on unit so they may benefit from them as well. You and your organization have done us a great service. Please pass along my heartfelt thanks to all those who are involved.
Thanks again,
E.P.

If it wasn’t so ironic, I’d send you a thank you card back!

Hi Sandy,

I received the box of cards yesterday and the Marines & I just love them. We really appreciate all of your efforts and thoughtfulness. If it wasn’t so ironic, I’d send you a thank you card back! ;-) It’s Sunday and we had a “reading break” which was very entertaining.

My daughter and son absolutely loves receiving cards from me and your organization has made that possible. So again, from my family to yours, Thank You!

Congratulations to Pvt Ciara on her new promotion! 5-6 weeks for a new box of cards would be great and a large box would be greatly appreciated. We get a lot of traffic in our office and we like to share with the other Marines that might stop through.

Kind Regards,

S.R.

They are a HUGE hit

Sandy,
I received the box of cards yesterday. Thank you so much. I can tell you that they are a HUGE hit with my company. That box that you sent is already halfway gone. I really appreciate your team helping out and doing what they do. I am impressed with everything. When I get a card I am amazed at the detail and time put into each card.

As for Pvt Ciara, that is awesome. When I saw that picture I was reminded of my friend's golden retriever named "Wrangler." Please let me know if there is anything that I can do to help as well. We are here untl at least December. This is my 3rd deployment here.

Well once again, THANK YOU and God bless.
MSG G.M.

Extra-special thank you to little David

Dear Sandy,
I got the second box of cards yesterday. :) It came just in time because I was almost out of cards for my kids. I don't get to talk to them much on the phone, so these beautiful cards are my main means of communication with them. Please tell your friends "thank you" and "congratulations" on your millionth card.
Please pass on an extra-special thank you to little David for the Noah's Ark card.* It is really nice. He made me smile with all the animals and the great work he did with the drawing.

Also, tell Lainey** I think she is super-strong for carrying that big box all by herself.

I hope your foot is steadily improving, and thank you again for the cards. My kids love them.
Very respectfully,
D.F.

Cards Create "Wonderful Memories"

Dixie,
Thank you so much for the second shipment of cards! They
are...well, the only words that comes to mind; and may "date" me, is
AWESOME!! Another box received, another box emptied! I'm sure you
receive tons of positive responses from Service Members all the time,
but I want you to know I am very grateful for the sacrifice of time,
effort, energy, money etc. that all of you wonderful card makers give up
to support us while we are deployed. I cannot describe to you the
overwhelming joy knowing I am sending a genuine piece of art to my loved
ones back in the States. I think the biggest "sellers" in the package
for my Soldiers have been the I love you, I miss you and the I am
thinking of you cards. I think it's wonderful to see the cards that are
geared towards the younger children. I have boys from 18-3 and it's
nice to send them a note every now and them that is 'age appropriate."
Dixie, thank you for the wonderful memories these cards create.

Respectfully,
SFC M.W.C.

I believe in what you are doing

Thank you so much for what you do. These cards are wonderful and such a blessing. I know you don't feel I should donate to a cause that is a gift of no cost to me*, but I believe in what you are doing and I want to make sure others are able to receive the blessing from your organization.

We have a PX in every Base here in Iraq, but the card selection is horrible. One time I had to buy a card for my sone for his birthday. He is only one year old and loves Elmo. They had only one baby birthday card in all the selection and it read, "Happy Birthday Grandson!" :) So because it had Elmo I had to get the card. I took some white out, marked over Grandson and replaced with Hudson, his name. The card has some humor to it now and will always be a reminder of the place I was when it was his first birthday. :)

Now that I have explained the need for your cards you can understand why we love them so much!

I also love the personal notes included in each box** along with the pictures. *** It adds a personal touch and truly expresses how much you and those who work with you truly care about us here. Since receiving the two boxes I have mailed so many cards home and everyone is enjoying the creativity in each one. I have shared the box of cards with my office and they are loving them as well. Especially before holidays - I don't think we had a single Mother's Day card left after everyone went through the box! I'll do my best to get a picture for your collection.

Be safe and give that leg plenty of rest so  you can heal!
MSG T.M.

*she did make a donation. And was chided (in a friendly way) for it!

You can't know the extent

Note to a cardmaker:

Just a note to say Thank You! for all you are doing for our military families while they are deployed. My husband is deployed to Afghanistan for a year. Today, I received a note in the mail from him. As I opened the card, I noticed the personal touches and wondered where in the world he would have gotten such a card. I looked on the back and saw your stamp. Thank you for remembering our guys and gals and for making our time apart a little closer to home! You can't know the extent of your efforts and the
meaning it has to all the families you touch!

God bless you and our military!

Blessings,

Our Families Will Love the Cards

On behalf of myself, and my entire team here ..., thank you! And thank you to all the wonderful people involved with Operation Write Home! Your cards are beautiful and gave us a much needed pick me up this week. As you can imagine, it is easy to get caught up in the nonstop work over here, but your cards gave us a great reason to take some time and write to our loved ones. So, thank you. I am sure our families will love the cards that we get to send to them because of you and your organization. It is great to know that we serve such an amazing Country, with amazing people like the ones involved with Operation Write Home. I trust this missive finds you and all of the card makers well. Please pass along my thanks to everyone (especially Nancy)!

My heart fills with such happiness and joy

Facebook post from a family member:

Thank you so much for the wonderful cards. My heart fills with such happiness and joy when I get a card from my deployed husband. The excitement is priceless on my four year old daughter's face when she receives one from her daddy. This is all possible because of the donations from your organiztion.
P.Y.

Her second reply:

Thanks to all of you!!! I will keep these cards for the rest of my life and re-read all of the wonderful things that he wrote to us during the deployment. He even sends cards to our now 9 month old twins that I will read to them when they get older. They were 5 months old when he left and will turn one before he gets home.

Word is getting passed around about OWH

Hi Sandy- Thank you so much for sending the brilliant cards! We have received them and everyone is enjoying them. You mentioned in your (written) card that you would make another delivery in another 5-6
weeks? I will be returning to the U.S. in another several weeks and  that will not be necessary, but much appreciation for the thought and your efforts. In any case, the word is getting passed around about OWH
so its possible you may receive specific requests in the coming weeks!

BTW, PVT Ciara is adorable. Thank you for the pic!

P.S. Attached picture of Effie and I for your amusement.

Never written so many cards in my life

Sandy,
I'm stationed in Afghanistan and my friend J.T. is my Operation Write Home card supplier. I just wanted to say thank you so much for everything you and your organization does. The cards are so
beautiful and unique and more importantly, they make my friends and family feel special because I've chosen a card with them specifically in mind. They're also happy because I've never written so many cards in my life as I have during my six months here! Thank you again for all your efforts, they are much appreciated,

Sandy,

I received the box of [welcome home] cards in the mail today. These are some of the most beautiful cards I've ever seen...and that is no exaggeration. I don't even want to give them away...lol. I want to frame them and decorate my house with them!! The soldiers will LOVE them!! Please feel free to follow my personal blog (www.4ourmilitary.blogspot.com) where I share all my experiences online. Again, thank you and all your cardmakers for helping to make our soldiers' homecoming that much sweeter!

Wonderful Works of Art!

Brenda C., one of our card makers, got this nice email from a Hero!

Ma'am,

Thank you for the beautiful cards you make for us to send home to our friends and family. I was speaking with my sister the other day on the phone and she thanked me for the card and told me how beautiful it was. Then she asked me if we make them here. I quickly explained that there's a special group that makes them and ships them to us so we have something beautiful to share with them. I send them to my daughters and they love getting them as well as my husband, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, mother, father, and friends.

Thank you again for all of the time, effort and money you put into these wonderful works of art for us to share with others.

From a NATO officer

Received by a cardmaker:

Hello Pat, I just wated to write a short thank you for the work you do with making cards for troops to send back home from Afghanistan. I thought you might appreciate knowing that we find the work you do usefull and helps us to stay in contact with our family and friends back home. I am a British officer in Kabul working alongside your fellow countrymen and am impressed by the support the US population give to their troops. The card I sent was beautifully crafted and I am sure my wife will love receiving it. Thanks again.

The box arrived today!!

Dixie,

Even Greater news...The box arrived today!! That was quick! Already in two hours there is only about 15 cards left. I went around my entire unit and they were a great hit. Everyone was really excited and went through every single one and loved all the little details in each card. Some even want more lol. I told them how to get a hold of you and let them know I get a box roughly every 6 weeks. We go through them so quickly here, and will as the coming months come and our internet shuts down. I can't wait to start sending my kiddos thier letters again. I send one out almost every 3 days so they get one in the mail almost daily....

Thank you from My brothers and Sisters here in Iraq.
