Deployment is not easy on anyone

Dear Ms Allnock,
I wish to thank you, on behalf of the entire 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion and Task Force Tiger, for the care package of cards you sent us. They are sent out to Soldiers who are not assigned to an operating base with access to an Army Air Force Exchange Service. In this way, we can make sure that they get the items they need each day.

They have also helped out a great deal during times when supply lines here in Afghanistan become strained. The local stores sell out of all the basic necessities that Soldiers need. We in the Chaplains office are able to provide these items for the Soldiers, thanks to your contributions.

Again, a huge thank you is extended. Deployment is not easy on anyone, and you have been able to make it a little easier.

Sincerely,
R. B. O., 86th Expeditionary Signal Battalion Chaplain

A beautiful postcard from a hero...

Dixie, Thank you for another packed full box of handmade cards. We have enjoyed picking out cards to send to our loved ones. I set the box out, and noticed yesterday that there were only a few left. I see them all over which is great. I really appreciate your support and I find so much joy in picking out cards for my family. Sorry this postcard is from the Holidays - but I still had a few and really like them. Thought you might too. Thank you!

C.K., Soldier, Afghanistan

Cards were used the first day

Thank you very much for the package full of cards. Cards were used the first day. Not sure about coincidences, but I am familiar with Olathe KS. I lived just a county or two away. Born and raised in Wyandotte county until I joined the Navy after high school in 87. 23 years later I find myself in Iraq with lots of sand. Thank you again, these cards are much appreciated by a lot of Navy, Army and Air Force personnel.

Meant so much for us and our families

Ms Allnock,

Thank you for sending us beautiful cards for the past few months. Their use has meant so much for us and our families during our deployment.

We would appreciate if you can remove us from your mailing list. We are set to deploy back to the states very soon.

Thank you again!

Everyone is very excited

Sandy,

Just received the OWH box. Everyone is very excited to get a care package with cards to send to their wives. I am working on writing the people who sent us letters with addresses on them. My goal is to reply to all of them. Once again thank you for all of your support, we appreciate it greatly.

Hot commodity

"I want to thank you personally for the box of hand-crafted cards we received from your organization. The Soldiers were very pleased and they became a hot commodity. Please thank everyone that were involved. It's always hard to be away from family during a deployment but the encouraging cards and your support makes it a little easier. Please let everyone from your organization know that they are appreciated and I will NEVER forget what they have done. Thank you once again for all you do and you are reason Soldiers like myself still believe that America is still the Greatest Nation in the World."

I can't tell you how much it means

Ladies,
I can't express how much I appreciate your time and efforts, as I have benefited from both. I am half of an active duty dual military couple. Throughout most of the last decade my husband and I have been geographically separated in support of OIF, OEF and now OND. Not only are your cards are unique and beautiful, but they're handmade. Most people don't take the time to do anything by hand, which makes your cards that much more heartfelt. Thank you for helping my husband and I stay connected to each other, to our three young sons, our family and friends. I can't tell you how much it means to receive such a gift from a complete stranger. You may think your gesture is small, but it never fails to brighten my day, which is no small feat when you're in harm's way. It is an honor to serve my country because it's filled with people like you. Thank you!!

I have yet to see something so abundant

Good morning from Kandahar! To say that I was amazed, would be a sad understatement. This morning's mail call brought with it, your incredible package. This is my 3rd deployment since 9/11, and I have yet to see something so abundant, and more importantly... well organized. I've seen small packets of cards, with one of these, and one of those... and I fear all too often those are only picked through. But with the way you've got the box laid out, with themes and holidays... well, I am humbled. Thank you again for all of your care and effort you've put into doing this. I will do my part and see the cards get into the right hands on this end.
God Bless and Keep,

Dear Ms. Sandy,

The cards are by far the most popular item!

Sandy,
We just received the latest shipment of cards from you yesterday! As always, the cards are amazing and it didn't take long for people to snatch them up! Of all the care packages we get from people back home, the cards are by far the most popular item! Thank you and please pass our gratitude on to your volunteers!

Your cards have made my marriage so much stronger

"I know my cards are nowhere near as nice as the ones you make but I wanted to tell you "Thank you" personally. Your cards have made my marriage so much stronger, give me the opportunity to send something nice to my wife. My soldiers enjoy it just as much as I do."

Inspired us to stay in contact

We received our last box of cards, thank you very much! We are getting prepared to return home. We pack our CONE next week, and we will start turning in material we no longer need.
Thank you for all your support. The beautiful cards were a blessing, and they inspired us to stay in contact with our families.
Take care,
MAJ L.F.

We give them out at dinner with pens

Sandy, thanks for the supplies of cards - what a great idea! We give them out at dinner with pens so the guys will do it. It works!
Your prayers, support, and love are worth more than you know. Be assured of ours! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Chaplain

**Can't read the handwriting except to know it's a Chaplain with a similar address to a few of our contacts; they're likely passing the boxes on to the chapel for distribution :)

Everyone enjoys them, especially the ladies

A quick note to let you know I received the Christmas cards and latest box of cards. Thank you very much! Everyone enjoys them, especially the ladies. Our company commander insisted that our younger troops write home during the holidays. She stays involved with everyone and encouraged them to send a card instead of an  email, text, or facebook message.

Our time here is short and our address has been turned off. That will allow the system to push the remaining mail through. Sad not to have something to look forward to but it means we're closer to going home. About 30 dys for most of us.

Weather has been cool. 50s during the day and high 20s at night. We had some rain last night and it knocked the dust down. Usually very dusty as most of the roads are dirt.

Still not a nice place and the flag is at half mast most days. I have served with some of our country's finest. Thank you for keeping us in your thoughts.

Absolutely spectacular and beautiful!

Dear Sandy,
Thank you for heading this wonderful organization! The cards are absolutely spectacular and beautiful! They are truly a fine piece of artwork and we greatly look forward to receiving them. The winter cards worked just s well for Christmas wishes, and now we're even ahead of the game for Valentines Day. Thank you and please pass along our gratitude to other supporters in your group!
Respectfully,

I think it is special what you do

An email received by a cardmaker from her friend:

Rob was able to get a few handmade cards from them while he was deployed to write home. They were so beautiful and special. Thank you for taking your time to stamp so families can recieve such wonderful cards. He thought it was neat bc he knew I would love handmade cards. We got three in the mail today and they were special bc someone took their time to make it and Rob took the time to pick out the ones he thought we would like. It was funny bc I acutally have some of the stamps that were used to make them and my mother in law got one and thought I had made it and sent it with rob. Well just wanted to share that I think it is special what you do. Thanks!!

A lot of hard work and love put into making each card

Hi Sandy,
I am currently stationed at Balad, Iraq. I work at the Air Force Theater Hospital, the biggest hospital in Iraq. I have been here for about a month now, this is my second time here though. Since I have been here we have been doing a lot of cleaning up and getting ready for the transition of downsizing. In all the midst of cleaning up I came across a very beautiful card that came from your organization. I used it to write my family back at home, and I know they will find it as beautiful as I did.
I know there’s a lot of hard work and love put into making each card, and I wanted to take a moment and say thank you.
Thank you so much for supporting us and making such beautiful cards so we can keep in touch with our love ones. Please let everyone there know how much we all appreciate their hard work.

Thank you,
