Another Hero is Home!

Hi Dixie!

Thank you so much for all of the cards you have sent to me while I was in Iraq. I can't even begin to express how touched I was by the beautiful cards made by OWH. I always placed them at the front desk of our dental clinic at Camp Liberty in Baghdad, and patients were extremely receptive to them and writing back home to their friends and family. I just got back about 3 weeks ago and am back at my duty station at Ft. Stewart (near Savannah, GA), and I am sorry I never wrote you to inform you (as you had requested in a previous email). It has been hectic lately to say the least. The good news is that there are still some dentists and patients that will be able to use the cards you have sent. With the drawdown, I am not sure if you will need to send so many boxes, as our patient flow at the dental clinic is declining. Again, I appreciate all the support you and OWH give us Soldiers, and hope you have a wonderful summer.

Best wishes,
CPT D.A.

I saw faces light up

We received the box of cards today. What a beautiful gift Operation Write Home has given us!

As I walked around and told the Marines about this special gift, and where it was located, I saw faces light up! Yes we have email but a good old fashioned letter or card can men so much to our loved ones.

Thank you for the photos. It is nice to see the generous folks who support us. Thank you for the support, love, time and much effort that went into making these beautiful cards!
Sincerely,
MSgt M.E.

Everyone enjoys them!

I just wanted to take the time to THANK YOU and all those who help you for these cards. They mean alot to us and I personally look forward to them every month. Last month I actually ran out of cards before this box came. Everyone enjoys them!

Kleenex alert!

Thank you very much for the beautiful cards once again - and the extra treats! The comics went like wildfire, while the granola bars make a perfect snack during our long days. The "Hero" letters were provided to a corpsman who was unable to say goodbye to some good friends.

Thanks again,

Card for my son's 4th birthday

Thank you and the entire Operation Write Home team for their handmade cards. The box you sent brought numerous smiles to the troops. The entire box was gone within 12 hours of opening with such comments as:

  • This card will be perfect for so and so down range.
  • Granny's name is written all over this card.
  • I could not have chosen a better card for my son's 4th birthday.
  • I am too excited for words.
The get well and handwritten [AnyHero] cards were hung in the ER here at the hospital for all to enjoy. Thanks again for lifting our spirits during a hard week.

I can't begin to tell you

This letter came with a flag!

You sent two boxes of cards to our unit. I can't begin to tell you what they meant to our unit. We issue ID cards as part of our mission. We set the boxes out to share with anyone that came in for a new card. The word spread quickly!! Please share with everyone that all their time, effort and money to mail the cards was appreciated beyond words. God Bless You!

Words can't do justice

Thank you SO much for sending me these GREAT cards! They're all so special and personal. Words can't do justice to describe how awesome it feels having support from back home! Thank you for the very thoughtful service - these cards are a wonderful gift!

I hope it's appropriate to send donations to the same address, so you can continue this service. I hope to send a donation via a sister very shortly.

[My mother] is just going to LIGHT UP to see them!

Operation Write Home,
Thank you for providing the hand made cards!

I stumbled upon a box recently sent to my HQ and was thrilled to look thru them and select cards for my friends and family.

My mother, sisters, and I used to make our Christmas cards together over the Thanksgiving holiday. I am sure every letter my mother receives is appreciated. But I can't wait to send the beautiful, whimsical, and creative cards I grabbed from your box - she is just going to LIGHT UP to see them!

Thank you again,
P.P.

Soldiers poured in to get cards

Hi Dixie! We can’t wait to receive them! We truly appreciate your support. The guys love the cards. Just so you know, Soldiers poured in to get friendship cards to cheer up two female Soldiers in a sister unit who were injured during a rocket attack. I wish I had a camera at the time to show how their faces brightened up when they saw the cards. I just want you to know that what you do truly makes a difference. Just so that you’re not too worried, one Soldier received fairly minor injuries, and will be returned to duty. The other was evacuated to the states for surgery to remove shrapnel. They expect her to make a full recovery. Thank you so much for all that you do!

Thank you for supporting us...

Thank you so much for the Cards. I received them this evening when I came into work. The Soldiers that work for me were surprised to see so many cards and impressed with the variety of occasions. I have challenged all of them to send their loved ones a reminder that they are in their thoughts from time to time. I think that if you were to send another box sometime in September that we would be able to use them all up. We are rotating back to the States in December of this year.
Again, thank you for supporting us with this wonderful gift/opportunity to stay in touch with our loved ones.

We can send "love"

I've been so busy over the last few weeks I hadn't had a chance to write you. We got our new box a couple of days ago! We were so excited...people are already starting to get their Father's Day Cards ready! You guys are amazing and I can tell ya that it brightens our day knowing we can send such "love" through handmade cards back home to our loved ones! Thank you for taking time to do that and send them to us!

Take care!

The cards are quite popular

Hi Sandy, I just received a box of cards from you. Thanks so much. The cards are quite popular. I really enjoy watching the Marines look thru the box & find cards to send home. Thank you so much for the box and the nice note you included!

Small world!

An email shared by a cardmaker, who received this from a family member ...small world!

Thank you for the beautiful card we received from our son, Jesse, in Afghanistan. It held special significance for us since the photo was taken in Clarksville, TN, where Alvin went to college. Imagine receiving a card in Texas from our son in Afghanistan, with a photo taken hear his dad's hometown in Tennessee! All made possible by a family in California!! We will treasure it forever.

Thank you and may God bless you.

Thank you very much!

Good morning.  I received the box of cards and letters.  Thank you very much!  This will last me quite a while.  If I need more, I will let you know.

Thanks again for what you do, and taking the time out of your busy schedule to do this for Service Members is awesome.  God bless!

A hearty "THANK YOU"

I just wanted to pass along a hearty "THANK YOU" for supplying cards to my unit!  These cards were creative and heartfelt.  Thank you for taking the time, effort and resources to make it so easy for me to simply write home.  You made it  so easy to put a smile on my face and on the face of my loved one!  For that I am grateful.  Thanks again!
