Everyone here is excited to have more

Thank you for the cards.  We've been a bit busy so I've not had time to order them.  I know everyone here is excited to have more.  I received the cards about 4 days ago but because I've been busy with getting mail in and out to the guys I've had to wait until today to set them out.

You have a card on the way, thanking you also.

I was looking at one of the cards and it is from Carol in Peoria, AZ.  My dad lives in Peoria.  The family and I took a trip out there before we deployed so I could see him.  I'm hoping to go back again once we get done with this deployment.

Thank you again.

Hero Mail DOES Make a Difference!!

Shipper Dixie here, and I wanted to share this email my friend Wendy received today from a hero. In addition to making cards, Wendy regularly writes letters to heroes for my boxes.

Hi Mrs. Pitts,
My Soldiers and I just received a box of cards from operationwritehome, and I would just like to thank you for the cards you sent us. They really warmed our hearts and made all this actually worth it. Sometimes we forget why we are over here because it sure does not seem like we are making much of a difference at times. But then we get a card from home and it helps us remember. I know, I definitely couldn't make it through the whole year without the support of my family and people like you.

Nothing is more personal than to send a hand written card to loved ones.

Ms. Sandy,

I would like to express my thanks to you,  and your organization. I know it must take a lot of everyone’s time,  to make these wonderful looking cards. The soldiers and I really do appreciate all your hard work and efforts in order to bring us close to family and friends. Nothing is more personal than  to send a hand written card to loved ones.

Our motivation comes from the people of the United States such as yourself and I am proud to serve and defend our way of life. Thank you so much!

1SG J.M.

Within days of putting the boxes in our newly built MWR they were gone!

To All of You at Operation Write Home...

Thank You so much for all the beautiful cards!!! The time and effort you all have put in to these cards for us Soldiers is greatly appreciated! Where we are living here in Bagram, Afghanistan there isn't much around us and the card selection at the PX is minimal. Within days of putting the boxes in our newly built MWR they were gone! All the troops: Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine; and even Civilian Contractors have benefitted from your kindness and willingness to support those of us who are deployed and so far from home. So it is with a grateful heart I say Thank You from all of us at the XXth MP CO (San Diego, CA) and all the Troops deployed and living at the East Expansion side of Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan!

Now my time here is coming to an end and I will be leaving very soon (Finally!) so I must say that this last box I received from you (Mother's Day Cards) will have to be the last box. I will pass on the word of your Organization to others that will remain here after I go. Thank you again for all the cards and support!

Big Hit with Joint Command

Oh and I forgot to tell you that a girlfriend of mine in the unit next door may be inquiring about the cards too. They are such a big hit with everyone that they are even internationally used by our Coalition counterparts in the Inernational Security Assistance Forces Joint Command where there are about 18 different countries (Poland, England, Germany, France, Australia, New Zealand, and so many others) that snatch up the cards as fast as the American military memebers. Its great to know that our country can contribute to them as well. Please let everyone know.

...proud to be an American!

I can't wait to get the box. I tell you that these cards have been used a lot. We are about to run out so I am thankful you are sending more. I can't tell you how much we appreciate the support, love and prayers pouring out from people like you...makes me proud to be an American!

Take care!

I am a crafter as well

I received my first box of cards today and I am absolutely overwhelmed by the talent that is represented, not to mention the generosity of those who invest so much of their time, energy, and money to support this cause; and the spirit they exude in every creation!

I am very blessed to be in an area that has most all the necessities, but the availability of the cards really helps me stay in touch with friends and family. I find that I write more often, even with availability of e-mail, because I want to share the beautiful cards.

I can appreciate them even more because I am a crafter as well.  While sometimes I find they make me wish I had the time and my supplies so that I might exercise my creativity, I live through each of you and enjoy seeing all the great ideas - many of which I will copy when I get back into my crafting!

I just wanted to send a note to tell you that it is quite moving to me and those with whom I share the cards that so many people care so much.

Thank you sincerely for the support you give to the Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen and Civilians here in our unit through your amazing organization.

With Warm Regards,

No excuse not to send off a Mother's Day card

Thank you so much for another wonderful box of cards.  I guess I don't have an excuse now not to send off a Mother's Day card.  And however you have the packages scheduled, it has been working out very nicely - not long after we finish one of the boxes, another one arrives.  So thank you once again.
I will be leaving Afghanistan here in 2-3 weeks.  Excited to be heading home to see the family near Boston.  If you'd like, you can replace my name with "S.V." and continue to use the same address. He is on a one year tour and will be here until October or so.
  Anyway, thanks again.

Best regards,

Anna Sarabeth's daddy is coming home!

Sandy, It's J.A. and I am about to finally get out of this country and start my trip home to my beautiful wife and youngens!!! I got the box with the Mother's day cards in it and put it out for all to use, once again wonderful job and thank you so much. You guys keep up the amazing work you do and I'll continue to spread the word of your wonderful organization when I'm home and if you have information on how my family can make cards and get them to you for distribution please e-mail me and I'm sure my kids would love to help and that would be a wonderful family project.

Thank you again,
God Bless everyone of you,

(And yes, the email subject line was all caps! He cc'd cardmaker and AnyHero letter-writer Celeste on this, since he had her email...she got a biiiiig smile out of getting a letter from a hero!)

Celeste, Sandy and all those who sent us such uplifting notes with all the beautiful cards,

Thank you so much for the cards!!! All of you are such a blessing to the soldiers here! People just don’t send snail mail anymore! But after I give them my speech about how special it is for them to take the time to write a note, put it in an envelope, seal it and take it to the post office. And the delight from the recipient…..WOW! it speaks VOLUMES!!!!! And sooooooooooooooooo special. I will send you pictures of airmen writing out their cards.
Thanks again!

Prayers and blessings,

The Cards Go Fast!

Got the cards 2 days ago - they are perfect and what great timing!! My unit - 65 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and a few Dept of Defense civilians - all appreciate everyone's effort. One of the many things we do is coordinate entertainment for all the troops here in the entire Iraq theater, so it is nice to be the ones getting some morale boosters of our own in return - we love the letters, and the cards go fast!

Beautiful custom writing cards

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for your kind donation of the beautiful custom writing cards from Operation Write Home. Your generosity directly contributed to our mission to improve morale and better lives and improve the well being of the troops. We will make sure we make use of the cards and pass them out to the troops.

Again thank you for your contribution to Operation Enduring Freedom - Philippines.

Hero Coming Home!!

I just wanted to thank you for the extraordinary cards you all made for us. They are so cute, everyone just loves them. I am redeploying in May so I think this will be the last box of cards for this rotation. I will tell the next rotation about Operation Write Home, and hope they spread the word as well. Thanks for all you have done to brighten the days of so many soldiers. We can’t thank you enough.

Brightened Our Day

Good afternoon. I am sending this e-mail to inform you that the box of
beautiful cards has arrived. Thank you so very much for your quick
responsiveness and getting the package out quickly! Since their arrival this
afternoon, approximately 60 cards have been taken by unit members--I suspect
the box will be nearly empty in a couple weeks. I cannot express enough how
you and your friends have brightened our day with your kindness.

In particular, I would like to thank you for the personalized note that was
included in the box -- classic penmanship, let alone calligraphy, is an art
form that is rare these days. If only for a minute, your note took me back to
my youth when teachers encouraged students to treasure written cursive form.
I'll have to take it home for my girls to see -- just maybe it'll motivate
them to write a bit neater! :)

I just wanted to write and say thank you to all of you at home who take
the time to make and send these cards.

My name is Roseanna and I am currently stationed at Bagram Airfield,
Afghanistan. The USO here provides us with these lovely cards and they
are much appreciated. I sent one made by Suzi of Papillion, NE to my
daughter on her 17th birthday. I wanted to post a blog message on your
message board saying how much the cards are appreciated, but it is
blocked to me. Hopefully, you can pass on the "thanks!" for me.

Thank you so much for all you do to support our troops!

Morale Booster

We received your latest package of cards about a week ago. These will go to good use as did the last batch you sent out. In fact if I remember correctly, there weren’t many cards left over from the last package you sent before Valentine’s Day. They were a welcome morale booster for the Marines and others to be able to send something hand written home to their loved ones. So, much thanks to you and your organization for all that you do in support of all of us.
