Card recipient contacts a cardmaker!

The other day I had a young man contact me through facebook that I don't know. He said that he received one of my cards from his brother that is stationed overseas to thank us for what we are doing. (His brother was one of the troops that helped rescue Captain Richard Phillips that was being held hostage at sea by the Somalians back in April)

I am in the process of moving to a new house so have have been such a slacker when it has come to making cards but having someone reach out that received a card I made definitely inspired me to get back to making more!!

It as a really great feeling to here from this young man and just thought that I would share it with you since I know a lot of people really appreciate the work you are putting into this as well!

I hope to send more cards soon!

Soldiers come in daily looking and asking for cards

I pray that all is well with you on this great day. This is SGT W again (writing for Chaplain N/Q-West Iraq). I was hoping you could put us on the list again for more cards. We are covering down on over 2,000 soldiers so the cards are going fast. They are so awesome and soldiers come in daily looking and asking for cards.

Let me know what you can do Sandy, thanks and may God continue to bless you abundantly!

I also wanted to thank you for the prayers!

Thank you so much for your support! The cards are so cute!

Well we have a few more weeks! and we'll be home. I left the envelope and the box of cards for the next Chaplain and Assistant Chaplain!*

I also wanted to thank you for the prayers! You have no idea how much that has really been the last best hope. How the Lord has protected, provided, and encouraged not only myself, but the troops at just random times! Haha, God's timing - Amazing!

Well, thank you. Again.

In Christ,

PS Remember to say thanks to the rest of the folks making these cards. YOU WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN!

*We sent one extra box and a letter to the next chapel team coming in behind this unit as they leave.

Thank you for the time and energy

Thank you for the cards, again! I passed out the [Any]Hero cards to different members of my section. They were hung on the wall the next day. I gave the birthday cards to Section Sergeant Major to pass out.

It was a beautiful picture of a mountain on your card. It reminds me of the summer of 1985 that I spent at Ft. Lewis going through training. The back to school cards were wonderful, one of the Sergeants sent some to her grandkids.

The high temperature is averaging 115-120 degrees, which is lower than normal.

I want to thank you for the time and energy you put into the cards for heroes program!

Makes our job EASY!

Many thanks to you and your organization. The box of cards was uplifting for me and my fellow soldiers. We appreciate all of your prayers and support! It is people like you that makes our job EASY!

Appreciate the thought you put behind the child-friendly ones

The box of cards was a godsend. So many soldiers were so very grateful and everybody loved them and talked about how much work y'all put into them. I was going to use one of the thank you cards you sent to write you, but they were gone like hot cakes fast. I really appreciate the thought you put behind the child-friendly ones.

We're doing good on cards for another week or two, today's the 13th of August, so round about September if you feel the yen to send more, that would be wonderful.

Well I have to get back to work. Thank you again and have an outstanding day!

Card writing business

From a Soldier who is hosting the "Write to Your Loved One" campaign a few posts ago!

I got the banner and the cards...THANKS A MILLION TIMES OVER!! We are putting the banner up ASAP...we have to buy some hooks tomorrow. SO nice and SO big! :)

I have to go now ...sorry so short...but THANKS AGAIN for all you do to keep us in the card writing business. We have already written more than 30 cards since I opened the box and plenty more have left out in their hands for future mailings. They LOVE them and can't get enough. I had one guy tell a really touching story about how it means so much to actually send out something that he touched and then knew that his wife was going to touch the same card! :)

Made with such love

I just want to say thank you so much for the beautiful cards you have provided for us to send to our families. I enjoy sending them to my children, my husband, family and friends. Even though we have access to technology here and we do use it, we also love sending cards back home; specially ones made with such love for us.

Very Respectfully;

"Write to your Loved One" Campaign

Things are moving fast around here! Latest update is that we now have a movie night at the Junkyard*...I have a projector a screen that we painted, AND a Popcorn machine! The coffee pots just arrived and we are getting our caffeine on a regular basis around here. The sign will be the cherry on top so please take a bow for your support. And please keep the cards coming, they are more than loved around here. My unit is having a "Write to your Loved One" campaign on Saturday and I am using these cards to support!! :)

Thanks so much Sandy and your Cards For Heroes!!
Very respectfully,

*This unit was sent a 4' x 7' banner (created, paid for, and shipped separately from our org) to support this chapel's effort at creating a center for everyone there to enjoy. They were sent a box of cards recently that will hopefully be there before next Saturday's event - as well as the banner! Fly, mailman, fly!

Received while I was home on R&R. Opened box yesterday. Awesome cards. Thank you again.
Sent from my iPhone

Only those with an iPhone know how hard a longer message is - so there is a lot more gratitude behind every character than it may appear! :)

A thank-you for an AnyHero note!

From shipper Kris: I received a package of cards today from Tammy H, Harrisburg PA. She has sent in cards before. Well she included a special note this time. She wrote an Any Hero note and received a thank you card (one from that package) from the service woman who received her Any Hero note. Tammy photocopied the card and the note......that is what she sent to me. The note reads.......

I received your card in a box of cards from Cards for Heroes. It sounds like you have a very full life. And I wanted to thank you for taking the time to think of us and for your support.

This is my fourth deployment and it amazes me how much continuing support we receive from home!! Thank you for thinking of us.

Sgt H.K.R.

To those who write AnyHero notes - feel free to include your contact information in your card or letter; they don't always have the time to write back, but sometimes when they do - it's a real thrill! (If you send letters from kids, be sure to include an ADULT's address to send a letter in care of, so children's information isn't compromised!)

Creativity and love that goes into the cards

In a note requesting cards:

I work within the Battalion S1 Shop and we have soldiers in here all the time. While they are waiting for either Mail Convey to come in, update paperwork or get a new ID Card, I always have them asking me if I have a pen and paper so they can write home or send a thank you to someone while waiting. We also receive numerous care packages from family members, friends and care packages from strangers around the US.

I have a friend who received cards from you on previous deployments and said that it was amazing to see the creativity and love that goes into the cards. We want to thank you in advance for this wonderful gift!

You have made this deployment so much better

Yes, we're still here until November. We leave two days before Thanksgiving, so we should be home by then! Yea! You are so wonderful. You have made this deployment so much better for me and the people around me. I hope we stay in touch forever.

Blessed by your thoughtfulness

I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for the beautiful cards that you sent us. Our troops were blessed by your thoughtfulness. I also wanted to inform you that our unit have been designated for early re-deployment to the states. To God be the glory. I would like to pass on the name of another chaplain in the event you are inspired to send further support. His name is Chaplain D. [contact info deleted].

Again, thank you for your support and may the Lord our God bless you richly.

My deepest gratitude

From a wife who requested cards for her Marine husband in Afghanistan:

My husband received his package of cards! Thank you so much! I know that it will help the morale for his Unit. Unfortunately, they have suffered some loses, but I'm sure that your cards will help other Marines communicate to their spouses and families to let them know they are doing well. Your support means a lot to me—as a mere spouse—I can only imagine what it means to the Marines that are over there.

Thank you so much for your hard work and continuing support of our troops.

My deepest gratitude,

A J. H
