The care and time is greatly appreciated

A letter from a soldier in Iraq, dated 29 Sept 08:

I just wanted to thank you for your contribution that you and your group have made for our soldiers. Our soldiers greatly appreciated the cards that you sent. I was impressed with the quality and variety of them, the care and time that everyone took to make those cards is greatly appreciated! I have already distributed all of the cards to our unit command posts so they can be distributed

Also I was wondering if it would be possible to get another push of Christmas cards around the beginning of November, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you again for your service to us.

A change from plain white paper

An email from a marine in Iraq, dated 26 Sept 08:

Good Morning!

I just wanted to let someone know that the cards are absolutely beautiful! Thank you!

I’m not really sure where they came from, we have a shelf in the shower area where girls leave extra items that come in care packages. Yesterday someone had left a bag of cards, and it was so hard to pick out which one I wanted. They are unique and very creative, and definitely a change from the plain white paper!

It’s a long deployment and I hope we get more! Once again, thank you, they definitely brightened our day.

The cards are absolutely beautiful

A blog comment from a soldier who found her way to this Hero Blog:

My unit recently received a shipment of your cards–I found the website stamped on the back of the cards.
The cards are absolutely beautiful! I love sending cards, but the Post Exchange (PX) here doesn’t carry a very good selection. Your cards are better than anything I could ever hope to find at the PX!

Thank you!

They are beyond thrilled

From a military wife featured during Hero Arts’ blog challenge a few weeks ago; her husband received a box of cards last week:

They are beyond thrilled with the cards. He said they went fast. He was excited to snag a few to send home to our kids. I can’t thank you enough.

Because of you sending those cards, my hubby found out that a few of his Sgt’s are scrapbooking and cardmaking when they have down time. He had no idea and told me because he KNEW I would enjoy hearing that. I emailed back and forth the last few days to find out that they had used up almost everything they brought with them and said they would be grateful for anything we could send over. ha! I have a small store in my basement so I am boxing up stuff left and right for them. She said it’s something to help them get through the days and to make them sorta forget where they are.

She took pictures of the box and the guys and gals grabbing the cards. She will most likely send you an email or even a real card to thank you. Her name is Sgt. XX. Her husband, also Sgt. XX is leaving next year to go to Afghanistan for a 15 month deployment.

Have a great one!

I am blown away by your talent

From a soldier in Qatar, dated 12 Sept 08:

Hello again! I want to publicly thank the ladies (and men, maybe) who hand-made these amazing cards and sent them to us. I cannot tell you how much we appreciate them, and we are all in awe of the talent you all have. I am referring to a bundle of maybe 150 cards we got specifically answering one of our requests, and each of these cards is hand crafted and many times more beautiful than anything you can buy. I cannot wait for the next occasion for card-sending! I cannot wait for my family to see these!! I am blown away by your talent, as are we all… It is truly a blessing to have everyone support us so much. I am just thrilled to know the country we serve has no problem showing it’s appreciation. You all are great :)

I cannot believe these cards were made by hand!!

A card from a soldier in Qatar, dated 08 Sept 08:

I cannot believe these cards were made by hand!! They are just gorgeous and I cannot wait to use them all. I am so impressed by the lengths people go to for us soldiers, and it make me just that much happier to be serving.

I am giving out the other letters to those of us with less mail. I get tons - mainly because I very diligently write back to everyone that writes to me, but also because I have lots of pen-pals from over the years. I am 23-years-old and from outside Atlanta, GA. I am a Humanities/Comm major in college, and I love to read, write, play sports, and travel. I LOVE animals and I am a vegetarian. And I’ve been in the Army for 3 years now.

Thank you for all you do for us over here. Your time and efforts are appreciated! Keep up the good work!
