Please express sincerest thanks

A card from a soldier stationed in Iraq — he should be home by now, due to return to Iraq in 2009:

Please express sincerest thanks on behalf of myself and my soldiers for your “card contribution.” It is with humility and metered pride that we serve. It is people like you, Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Allnock, Ms. Weeks and Mrs. Dabbs that really brighten our experiences over here. This is my second tour to Iraq, this time for 15 months. Last time it was 12 months with 18 between the two. It is tough watching my daughter grow up in photographs. I expect I’ll be back here in about a year but spirits are high as I’ve only about four days before I leave. I should be home in time for Christmas! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all of you ladies/girls. Thank you all so very much!
B., Iraq
